I'm telling you, if I could have gone twice on this trip while in St. offers field trip ideas for class trips, scout group trips, camp group field trips, and homeschool group field trips in St. The shop ETC in Pass-a-Grille on 8th Ave is steps aways and is an absolutely magical shop for unique recrafted antique gifts, don't miss it! Although I was a young woman traveling alone, I also felt totally at ease going solo. Even with the choppy afternoon weather, I would do it again - the crew was great and was able to bring the shuttle all the way in and handled it like total pros. The weather in the morning was absolutely perfect, but they canceled the 4:15 pm option due to wind and choppiness in the afternoon so we returned at 2:15, so try to get on the 10:00 a.m. Do NOT swim in the afternoon in the channel between the two small islands, it is not deep and right off the sand bar, but the current is super strong just in the afternoon and me and a full grown man almost get swept out to sea. When they land, don't waste your time, quickly head to the other side of the island and walk to the end for much better shells. ![]() Go to the bathroom beforehand at the shop on the pier and bring snacks, a ton of water and sunscreen - when they say there is nothing on the island, they mean it. If you want to gather sand dollars, bring a small box with you, because if you put them in your bags, they will break. I found many beautiful shells and sand dollars, and a conch the size of my head - all off shore. Bring a smaller shell bag that you can attach to your swimsuit because the one they provide is as big as a gunny sack. If you are a good swimmer, and can free dive with goggles, don't use the snorkel or umbrella - you will find much bigger shells and intact sand dollars off shore. The shuttle service provides you with a very big bag for shells, a snorkel, and an umbrella if you want one. I went by myself on the shuttle on at 10:00 a.m. Do NOT miss this trip! $25 for a totally magical experience. ![]()
